How to attempt a mock: before, during, and after
Make the attempt and its review a single preparation cycle.
Before
Choose an uninterrupted period where practical. Read the paper instructions, prepare permitted materials, and decide one strategy to observe. Avoid planning a long paper inside a short break.
During
Use the clock deliberately. If a question is not progressing, make a conscious decision to continue or return later. Follow the marking and navigation rules of this paper.
After
Take a break if needed, then revisit incorrect, skipped, and unusually slow questions. Choose what to learn or change before another attempt.
Example
If one difficult question consumed a large block of time, revisit your decision point. Work out what would have signalled that it was time to move on, rather than merely memorizing its solution.
- Prepare the environment.
- Follow the paper instructions.
- Review one decision as well as answers.
